New Fiat 500, the car that picks up the legacy and brings it into the present

In 2007 Fiat it was decided to bring back to the present one of the brand’s classics, the Fiat 500. For eight years, this has been one of the brand’s most popular models, aimed at urban drivers who want to enjoy the city. 1.5 million units of this model have been sold worldwide. On 4 July the New Fiat 500 is presented, which is redesigned and adopts a new style, without losing sight of the heritage of a car that has already turned more than 60 years old.
The new Fiat 500 has been designed by the Centro Stile Fiat, which has managed to keep the heritage of its predecessor while giving it a more contemporary presence. The new model keeps the same compact size, although its equipment is more complete and it features new engines. In addition, a good number of personalisation options have been added, making it quite a complete and original car.
It is initially offered in two versions, saloon and convertible, and in three trim levels. These are named Pop, Popstar and Lounge. The first of these includes seven airbags, the Uconnect Radio 5 system with six speakers, AUX-IN and USB connectivity, steering wheel controls and LED daytime running lights. The Popstar adds air conditioning, chrome mirror housings and vintage-style steel wheel covers.
The Fiat 500 Lounge is the top of the range and adds to all that equipment a panoramic glass sunroof, 15-inch steel wheels, a chrome front grille, a LIVE touchscreen and a multifunction leather steering wheel. In this case, the system can connect to a smartphone, allowing several apps to be run through it.

The new engines are a 0.9-litre TwinAir unit producing 85 and 105 CV, a 1.2-litre engine producing 69 CV and another 1.2-litre engine powered by LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). These engines offer very low emissions, from 90 g/km to 99 g/km of CO2. In some markets a 0.9-litre engine producing 69 CV and another 1.3-litre unit producing 100 CV will also be offered.
