Ford Electric Cars Compact Industry
Official: Ford Focus Electric

After several teasers hinting at an electric Ford Focus, it has finally been made official, and at the CES of all places, which we certainly did not expect, especially knowing that the Detroit Motor Show kicks off on Monday, perhaps a more suitable setting for unveiling a new model.
Either way, the new Ford Focus Electric has now been presented and, as such, appears on your screen today loaded with peculiarities, although Ford has not yet disclosed data as important for a model of this kind as its final weight or the range it will offer once it reaches the market.

What the engineers at Ford do tell us is how their new Focus Electric can fully charge its 23 kWh batteries in just 3 or 4 hours using a 240-volt plug, which is basically half the time it takes, for example, a Nissan Leaf under the same conditions. These batteries will be paired with an electric motor of 100 kW capable of producing 245 Nm of maximum torque, which among other things will allow you to drive at a top speed of 136 km/h.
Setting aside the few mechanical elements that Ford has revealed, we are looking at a “normal” Ford Focus, distinguishable only by certain aerodynamic changes present, for example, in the form of a much larger grille, the charging port in the front wing, or alloy wheels specific to the model in 17 inches, something very common across all electric vehicles.

As for the cabin, the main novelty is the new MyFord Mobile system visible on the central console. Beyond specific information about all parts of the car, this system offers full integration with your mobile phone, from which you can, among other things, check the status of the batteries, locate the vehicle via a GPS app, and even control the air conditioning.
If you are interested in this vehicle, unfortunately all that is known is that it will be launched in the United States at the end of 2011, while no launch date has been set for the European market, although, according to Ford, it will arrive before 2013.
