These days we need to keep an eye on what is happening in Geneva, as the Swiss city is hosting the Geneva Motor Show 2016, so we are bringing you all the information coming from there. Among that information are the new additions from Opel, since the German brand is also present at this event, one of the main ones in Europe.

The main highlight from Opel is the GT concept, a car we discussed in detail in an article a few weeks ago. It is an innovative car, with an impressive design that seeks to offer a tribute to the original car but with elements that place it several years into the future, eliminating external features such as the wing mirrors, which have been removed.

The Mokka X will soon reach the market

The new Opel Mokka X is also presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2016, where it has undergone some changes both on the exterior and in the interior. On the outside it has gained some changes that make it even more pleasing to the eye and give it an even more dynamic look, if that is possible. Inside, it features new connectivity systems, something potential customers of this model demand.

This model offers the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems, which bring the user’s smartphone environment into the car. It also features the Opel OnStar system, which provides personalised assistance when needed. As for engines, this version includes a 1.4-litre engine with direct petrol injection, which joins the rest of the range.

This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, which makes it a small, practical SUV with a very pleasing design.

The Astra, lighter and more technological

The Astra has received a facelift in its appearance, but also in its weight, which has been reduced by 200 kg. In the case of the Sports Tourer, its weight has also been reduced, though slightly less: 190 kilos below the previous generation. This, combined with the new engines and driver assistance systems, makes this model much more enjoyable to drive.

On the exterior, the standout feature is the light signature created by the IntelliLux LED lighting system, which, together with driver assistance systems, allows for safer driving behind the wheel. With the inclusion of these safety features, the pleasure of driving this popular model of Opel increases.

We will keep a close eye on everything that happens at the Swiss event and will tell you all about it. Stay tuned!
