Pagani Huayra Tricolore, the outrageously expensive tribute to the Italian Air Force's aerobatic display team
The three unique examples of the Pagani Huayra Tricolore are conceived as a tribute to the 313º Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico of the “Frecce Tricolori”
Three distinctive colours will adorn the three units built of the exclusive Pagani Huayra Tricolore, Horacio Pagani and his team’s latest production, a trio destined for three very select customers. Judging by the cost of each unit, they are likely to be the owners of the most expensive Pagani ever built.
But let us start with the description: inspired by the 10 aircraft and by the 313º Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico of the Italian Air Force, or what amounts to our national pride, the Patrulla Águila, the combat and aerobatic squadron Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale of the Italian Air Force, which on 1 March 2021 will celebrate its 60th anniversary, known as the Frecce Tricolori, has served as a source of motivation for the genius of Argentine origin and Italian nationality, who has once again demonstrated his undeniable link to aeronautics and, in the case of the three examples of the Pagani Huayra Tricolore, more than ever.

So much so that, not only because it is the Pagani Huayra tribute to the aerial division of the Aermacchi MB-339A P.A.N. in question, but also because, in the need for work on efficient, biting and, why not also, aggressive design, it represents success in the dynamism of a vehicle, whether aerial or terrestrial.
But, in the case of the Pagani Huayra Tricolore, the brand-new convertible base has been modified for this ultra-limited edition.

As standard, the monocoque chassis is made of carbon fibre and titanium. Around it, the bodywork has undergone changes in which both aerodynamics and mechanics are implemented thanks to a redefined front bumper that links to the exuberant bonnet over which the air flows, split after entering the lower diffuser of said bumper, such that the rising airflow is redirected by a newly designed deflector that sends the air towards the rear, which, while cooling the engine, which we will now detail, increases the effectiveness of its action thanks to a rear lower diffuser and a newly created spoiler as the crowning feature of the rear view.
On the side, given the green, white and red flag of the Italian Republic that the Aermacchi MB-339A P.A.N. have also displayed since 2016, when for their 55th anniversary it was decided to add the Italian flag along the fuselages, a new set of sublime wheels, 20 and 21 inches for the front and rear axles respectively, reminiscent of aircraft turbine blades, has been masterfully fitted, as the good Horacio Pagani knows how to do.

And if we are talking about fitting, in the engine bay of this vehicle, located behind the only two seats of these three and of the rest of the Pagani Huayra units, whether or not they are the Tricolore, once again, the original Mercedes-AMG V12 twin-turbo engine remains the heart supporting the drive of this car, with somewhat more than 840 CV of power and 1,100 Nm of torque from as low as 2,000 rpm to move a vehicle weighing just 1,270 kg.
A system associated with a 7-speed sequential gearbox capable of launching this car almost as quickly as one of the Aermacchi MB-339A P.A.N. aircraft lifts its occupants into flight.
Both the occupants of the aircraft and those of the Pagani Huayra Tricolore would feel at home swapping seats, since the Italian vehicle “replicates” the military aircraft’s cockpit in its concept, but not in luxury and exclusivity, since, through the use of the highest-quality materials and their combination in a cabin that only 6 people may enjoy simultaneously anywhere in the world, the aim has been to bring all the aeronautical motivation of the Frecce Tricolori squadron into four-wheeled sports cars.
Be that as it may, while it is well known that military aircraft are expensive, each of these three exclusive Pagani commemorative examples will be even more so than those Aermacchi MB-339A P.A.N., since the price of the Pagani Huayra Tricolore amounts to €5.5 million, taxes not included.
