Paris 2024 will be the most sustainable Olympic Games, with a fleet of 500 hydrogen cars
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will have a fleet of 500 Toyota Mirai, which will enable clean mobility around the city during the event.

The Olympic Games will arrive in Paris in 2024 and, besides being an unmissable event for athletes from around the world, they will also be the first to feature a fleet of vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells. These will be provided by Toyota and will be used to transport athletes and officials of the various Olympic delegations.
The model that will travel around Paris carrying passengers to the different Olympic venues will be the Toyota Mirai. These units will help the Olympic event reduce polluting emissions by up to 50% during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

To supply the hydrogen that will power the fuel cell, Toyota and the organizing body of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be Air Liquide. This company has committed to supplying hydrogen produced from renewable energy, so the environmental impact during the event will be even lower.

The Toyota Mirai features three tanks capable of storing up to 5.6 kg of hydrogen, which feed the fuel cell and offer a range of around 650 kilometers on a single refuel. This makes it a zero-emission car that is considerably more appealing than a battery electric car.
It has a motor that delivers 153 kW, equivalent to 180 CV. The fuel cell has an output of 128 kW and the battery has a nominal voltage of 310.8 volts. In Spain, this model, which has received an update, is on sale, although its success has been very limited.
In fact, only two fuel-cell car models are sold in our country: the Toyota Mirai and the Hyundai Nexo. Although these cars offer very interesting features, in 2022 only four units were registered.
The Mirai is sold in Spain in two versions, the Mirai Vision and the Mirai Luxury. The first has a price of 75,600 euros, while the second reaches 82,600 euros.
