Paris Motor Show 2010: Audi

Here we bring you the latest photos of what Audi is showing at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Its prototypes and new models for the coming months. Let’s take a detailed look.

We start with the Audi A1 1.4 TSI . This is the most powerful version of the A1 so far. Audi was expected to present the S1, but in the end this did not happen; in fact, the existence of this model remains a mystery. It has 185 CV and 250 Nm of torque. All that power comes from the same engine as the Polo GTI, a petrol unit with supercharger, turbo and direct injection. Performance is good and so is consumption. It reaches 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and uses 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres. Its price is €24,000.

Next on the list is the Audi A7 Sportback. It is a car presented this year, but already known. In size it sits between the A6 and the A8, although it has one seat fewer than those. It is a direct rival of the Porsche Panamera and Mercedes CLS. Its starting price in Spain is €63,900 for the version with the 3.0 TDI diesel engine producing 245 CV. It is currently sold alongside another petrol engine (3.0 TFSI with 299 CV), and at the end of the year the 2.8 FSI with 204 CV and the 3.0 TDI with 204 CV will join them.

Now let’s talk about supercars. One model, two versions: R8 GT and R8 4.2 Spyder. The first of these is the most radical of all the R8s. Its weight is 100 kg less than that of the V10 5.2 FSI, and production is limited to 333 units. It reaches 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and its top speed is 320 km/h. For its part, the R8 4.2 Spyder is the convertible version of the 430 CV V8 engine. Until now the convertible body was only sold with the V10 5.2 FSI engine. The R8 4.2 Spyder can go from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 299 km/h.

Now for the prototypes. We have two at the Paris Motor Show: Audi e-tron Spyder and Audi Quattro Concept. The e-tron Spyder is the convertible version of the e-tron prototype. However, its engine is different, since the e-tron Spyder has a 3.0 TDI diesel unit producing 300 CV coupled to two electric motors that together produce 88 CV. The result is a consumption of just 2.2 litres per 100 kilometres (or 59 g/km of CO2) and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Finally, the Audi Quattro Concept, the car that commemorates 30 years of the Audi Quattro. It has a direct-injection five-cylinder petrol engine, derived from the one fitted to the Audi TT RS, which produces 408 CV. The gearbox is a 6-speed manual and, of course, it has four-wheel drive. It is built on the basis of the Audi RS5 although, thanks to the use of lightweight materials such as aluminium and carbon fibre in certain parts of the bodywork, its mass is 1,300 kg (500 kg less than the RS5). Thanks to this lightness, the 0-100 km/h acceleration is achieved in just 3.9 seconds.
