Paris Motor Show 2012: Dacia

Dacia has unveiled a complete redesign and more optional extras across its three most representative models: the Logan and Sandero, the latter in hatchback and Stepway versions.

Dacia, the budget brand of Renault, has presented at the Paris Motor Show renewed models in line with the Logan and Sandero, giving both a front-end redesign that is part of a brand strategy aimed at giving its models a more defined character through a “new design language”.

All three models in the range share a similar front design, with very angular headlights flanking a grille made up of two very prominent sections. Completing the exterior, the wheel arches are more pronounced on the Sandero Stepway.

The Stepway and the Sandero hatchback have been influenced by the Lodgy, and gain extra equipment such as satnav, a touchscreen system and air conditioning. The equipment is good and the finish appears to be much better than in the previous generation. In terms of engines, the Stepway will offer a new 3-cylinder turbo and the dCi 90 diesel, the latter with consumption of 4.0 l/100 km.

The new Logan will offer a little more equipment than the previous generation. It can be specified with parking sensors, CD with MP3 and USB inputs, steering-wheel volume controls, satnav or cruise control, among other optional extras.

The Logan will be available with four engines, ranging from 75 to 90 hp, two of them petrol: the Tce 90, the same engine as the Stepway, with reported consumption of 5.2 l/100 km; the other petrol engine will be the 1.2 16V with 75 hp. For diesel, the range includes the 1.5 dCi with 75 or 90 hp.

According to what the executives of Dacia have said, all three models will begin to go on sale at the end of this year in Europe.
