The city car range of Peugeot, the 108, is expanded this month with the introduction of a new exclusive special version for the Spanish market. This feature of the Open series stems from the French brand’s role as sponsor of the Conde de Godó tournament, whose last edition ended yesterday with the triumph of Japan’s Kei Nishikori.

The 108 Open is offered with both bodystyles: the hatchback and the convertible 108 TOP! From the outside, this variant is recognised by the specific logos placed on the front doors and rear tailgate, and the rear skirt from the Línea S, normally available as an option, which gives the exhaust outlet a trim piece to highlight it aesthetically.

The bodywork also benefits from elements specific to the Allure trim, such as the fifteen-inch alloy wheels, the chrome window surrounds and the tinted rear glass when choosing the TOP! bodystyle. For the interior of the 108 Open, Peugeot has opted to equip it with the “Porcelain” visual theme and to differentiate it by adding the aforementioned badge on the dashboard.

The rest of the equipment is unchanged from what the Allure level includes: fog lights, speed limiter, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, keyless entry and start, leather-wrapped steering wheel with height adjustment, rev counter and radio with a seven-inch touchscreen featuring Mirror Screen function. The 108 Open goes on sale from €13,200. The TOP! bodystyle costs €1,350 extra.

This is the third time that Peugeot has used the Open name to create a tennis-inspired special series. In Spain, only the one attributed to the 205 was sold, in 1987, of which 15,000 units were built with the 1.4 83 CV engine. The second Open edition stayed in Switzerland and in 1996 offered a 306 with very comprehensive equipment, including a sunroof, front electric windows, more eye-catching upholstery and a radio operable from the steering wheel.
