Peugeot Concept Quartz: A crossover prototype for the 2014 Paris Motor Show

Peugeot presents a new prototype for the 2014 Paris Motor Show, which, as we are seeing, will be full of surprises and very appealing new features. The Peugeot Concept Quartz is the company’s new concept car that will combine the design of an SUV with a sporty concept that seeks to break the mold and stand out from the rest.
In fact, we find it curious to see the list of materials used in its manufacture, such as basalt stone or fabrics woven on digital looms, as well as recovered leather. The car’s look is robust, but it focuses above all on offering its users a powerful, strong vehicle with every possible comfort.
The engine hidden under the hood of the Peugeot Concept Quartz is a 1.6L THP 270 four-cylinder unit developed by Peugeot Sport, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The engine delivers a maximum torque of 330 Nm and a specific output of 170 CV/litre, which allows for quite impressive figures.

The combustion engine is supported by two electric motors. On the front axle there is one rated at 85 kW that recharges the 400 V battery during deceleration phases, while on the rear there is a similar one that drives that axle and helps recharge the battery. The motors can operate in three different modes, 100% electric, combining the combustion engine and the front motor, and all three at once, to deliver maximum performance.
Inside, four seats are provided so the occupants can travel in complete comfort, and the cabin has been fitted with the Peugeot i-Cockpit. This features a steering wheel based on those used in competition models, with several controls. In addition, the console is headed by a screen complemented by a polycarbonate display tilted 45 degrees that provides additional information with a depth effect.
