e-208 Peugeot Electric Cars Urban
Peugeot cuts the price of the electric e-208 below 30 thousand euros
The arrival of new competitors in the market and the drop in demand seem to be the reason behind this price cut.
The French manufacturer has decided to pursue a rather aggressive commercial strategy with its electric city car, the e-208, which has led it to set its selling price in the range of 25 to 30 thousand euros in some European markets. In doing so, it applies a discount of around 6 thousand euros compared with what it has cost until now.
The entry-level Style version of the e-208 now starts at 28 thousand euros in France, while in Germany it is even cheaper, at 26,545 euros. A price difference that is probably due to the different VAT rates in the two markets.

This price cut has not yet reached the Spanish market, however, where you still have to pay more than 30 thousand euros for it -31,700 euros to be exact-. Nevertheless, it would not be surprising if Peugeot ended up following the same commercial strategy in our country too.
Peugeot reacts
According to some sources, this price reduction across Europe may have been prompted by falling demand. In France, for example, in 2024 Peugeot delivered 23,602 units of the e-208 to its customers, which represents a 4 percent increase in sales compared with the previous year. However, these figures are somewhat misleading, since in the neighbouring country a social leasing subsidy programme was in force during the first half of the year, which boosted sales in that period, followed by a sharp fall during the second half. Thus, according to these reports, of those 23,602 e-208 units sold, only 6 thousand were sold from July to December.
Nor should we forget, on the other hand, the arrival in the market of new competitors with increasingly competitive prices, some of them also French, such as the Citroën ë-C3 or the Renault R5 electric, available for less than 30 thousand euros. The price reduction applied by Peugeot to the e-208 once again places this model in the fight against these new rivals; all the more so if we consider that the entry-level version comes very well equipped, including a 10-inch touchscreen, electric windows, automatic air conditioning, parking aids and a rain sensor, among other features.

At 4.06 metres long, 1.75 metres wide and 1.43 metres high, the e-208 is the ideal vehicle for getting around urban areas, delivering the performance needed at a competitive price, and it is also an agile and fun car to drive. An interesting alternative for everyone thinking of making the leap to electric mobility with a mainly urban vehicle.
