Porsche 918 Spyder, new rumours and details
New details about the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder, one of the most eye-catching supercars yet to arrive and about which, for now, we know little or nothing

Today we’re returning to the Porsche 918 Spyder, that limited edition from the German brand with which they aim to return to the centre of attention, having already sold out completely at an outlandish price without even having presented the definitive version to its future owners.
Well then, today I want to tell you about the rumours recently put out by Porsche’s management and published by Chirstophorus magazine, which talk about something as interesting as its public debut, no less than at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013

As is logical, since the limited edition is fully sold, deliveries to its owners will begin that same year, although given how late the supercar will be unveiled, it’s no surprise if deliveries are pushed back to early 2014. At least we now know its presentation date, and that’s something.
Naturally, the final model will undergo various changes aesthetically, though according to the rumours not too many, while mechanically we find an enormous 4.6-litre V8 derived from the one currently fitted to the RS Spyder LMP2, which will in turn receive significant revisions.

According to the rumours, after the modifications carried out on the new engine block we should expect a maximum output of around 550 CV. Does that sound low? The truth is that yes, especially when compared with its rivals, and you shouldn’t forget that this power will be complemented by that provided by three electric motors, which finally raises total output to 720 CV.
Whenever we talk about this so exotic supercar, new doubts come up. It’s clear that once it reaches the market it will surely appreciate rapidly, since many people are interested in owning one but very few will reach the market. Is it really worth spending a fortune on a vehicle about which, at the time, nothing was known?
