Porsche picks its five lightest models in this video
Porsche likes to make lists of its cars, putting together top 5s of the most radical ones or the five lightest in the brand, as you can see in this article

Each of us has our own lists of favourite cars, of cars with the most attractive bodywork, of the fastest cars, the lightest ones… But when it is Porsche itself that makes a list of its five lightest vehicles, it’s worth stopping to look at that data with interest. This is not the first time the Stuttgart brand has offered this kind of listing so that fans of its cars can have information about them and those that have certain characteristics.
Porsche 911 Carrera R.S 2.7
This model has become one of the most sought-after in the brand. It is the basic version of the car that shed 100 kg compared to the standard one, because it removed elements such as the clock, the rear seats, the door handles and other items that are not essential for delivering maximum efficiency on track. With all this, they managed to bring the car’s total weight down to 975 kg.
Porsche 906 Carrera 6
The second car on this list is the Porsche 906 Carrera 6, the last racing car that was road-legal that the brand built to face the Dino 206 from Ferrari. For this variant a fibreglass body was used, which made it possible to reduce the weight to 675 kilos.

Porsche 356 SL
This car was built in 1951 and is the first car of its type to win Le Mans. Its body was handmade from aluminium and achieved a net weight of 640 kg, and it allowed Porsche to begin establishing a presence as a car manufacturer worth considering.
Porsche 718 Formula 2
This racing car was active from 1958 to 1962. It was a very lightweight single-seater, powered by a 1.5-litre engine that delivered 150 CV. The weight of this single-seater was set at 456 kg.
Porsche 909 Bergspyder
The Porsche 909 Bergspyder was built at the end of the 1960s, designed to compete in hill climb events, so it needed to be quite light. The engine was 8 litres and delivered 275 CV. This engine powered the car, which weighed 385 kg. In 1968 it managed to reach 100 km/h in just two seconds. This is the lightest car ever made by Porsche, and this is the video that features these five cars, chosen by Porsche. Aren’t they impressive?
