Porsche wins three Auto Trophy 2013 awards

Good news to close a great year for Porsche: The German manufacturer has been named triple winner at the Auto Trophy 2013 awards, voted by readers of the specialist magazine Auto Zeitung. The Porsche 918 Spyder was named the best sports car in the “Super Sports Cars” category, and the 911 Carrera earned a double win in the “Sports Cars” category, while the 911 Cabriolet took the top spot in the one dedicated to “Cabriolet models over 30,000 euros”.
Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of Porsche AG, Bernhard Maier, Board member responsible for Sales and Marketing, and Oliver Blume, Board member responsible for Production and Logistics, attended yesterday’s awards ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany. Upon accepting the award for the 918 Spyder as best supercar, Müller spoke about the great future that hybrid propulsion will have in the sports car segment.
There were also other successes to celebrate for Porsche in the readers’ survey: in addition to the title awarded above, the 918 Spyder also took second place in the “Cabriolet models over 30,000 euros” category. The Panamera finished second in the “Luxury” category, and the Cayenne achieved the same placing in the “SUV models over 30,000 euros” category.
This was the 26th edition of the Auto Trophy awards. The votes are held at regular intervals and involve more than 100,000 readers of Auto Zeitung. A total of around 400 different models are evaluated, across 29 separate categories.
