Production of the Polestar 4 begins, with deliveries expected in early 2024

The electric revolution in the automotive world has a new protagonist, and its name is Polestar 4. The exciting news comes with the confirmation that production of this high-performance coupé SUV has started with great success at the Hangzhou Bay factory, operated by Geely Holding. The first customer deliveries in China are expected before the end of 2023, marking a milestone in Polestar’s vision of leading the transformation toward sustainable mobility by pioneering the integration of eco-friendly practices in the manufacturing of electric vehicles.

The Polestar 4 stands out not only for its striking design but also for its commitment to sustainability from the assembly line. The first production car to leave the factory features an elegant Snow finish, complemented by the Swedish distinctive gold details of the Performance Pack.

In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, the Polestar 4 has achieved the lowest carbon footprint of all the brand’s models, registering between 19.4 and 21.4 tCO2e at launch. This achievement is largely attributed to the Hangzhou factory, which operates on hydroelectric-certified renewable electricity and photovoltaic energy generated on the plant’s roof.

The ecological commitment is not limited to the energy source. On the assembly line, various practices are implemented to reduce harmful waste. From the use of chrome-free passivation to the application of water-based paint, Polestar demonstrates a comprehensive approach to minimizing its environmental impact. In addition, the implementation of technologies such as the concentrator wheel and the regenerative thermal oxidizer effectively contributes to treating the factory’s exhaust gases.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, highlights the importance of the Polestar 4 in the brand’s growing range of high-performance electric vehicles. Ingenlath notes that this coupé SUV, in addition to its avant-garde design, is the first Polestar to feature a virtual rear window with a world-class digital rearview mirror. This diversified, asset-light approach has allowed Polestar to leverage the development and manufacturing expertise of its partner and main shareholder.

The official presentation of the Polestar 4 took place at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023, generating great anticipation in the industry and among electric vehicle enthusiasts. As it moves toward mass production, the first customer deliveries in China are expected to take place before the year ends, marking the start of a new era for the brand.

Looking ahead, Polestar plans to launch the Polestar 4 in all other markets in early 2024, with customer deliveries in those markets scheduled for the same year. Furthermore, starting in the second half of 2025, additional manufacturing capacity will be added in Busan, South Korea, to serve both the local market and exports to North America. This coupé SUV is strategically positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 models in terms of size and price, consolidating the brand’s presence in the high-performance electric vehicle segment. The wait is almost over, and the Polestar 4 is ready to bring the electric revolution to roads around the world.
