Puritalia Berlinetta, the hybrid supercar with a touch of classic Italian style

The Geneva Motor Show keeps giving us surprises, the kind that will be talked about for months and will provide hours and hours of conversation for motoring enthusiasts. One of the models we had not yet discussed is the Puritalia Berlinetta, a supercar from a small automotive company that has presented a design reminiscent of the golden age of Italian sports cars. And in addition, it is a hybrid model that offers all the power needed to enjoy driving it to the full.

The Puritalia Berlinetta is built from carbon fibre, which gives it a rather impressive and striking appearance. Its elegant lines run from the round headlights to the tail, creating a classic yet modern look that promises excitement behind the wheel. And the experience is not limited to the exterior, as it also comes through in the mechanics hidden beneath.

This consists of a hybrid powertrainPuritalia Berlinetta Ginebra that combines a 5.0-litre V8 engine producing a considerable 750 CV and a maximum torque of 878 Nm, figures that place it among the most powerful supercars. But the electric motor fitted to the Puritalia Berlinetta raises total output to 980 CV, so it does not fall short compared with similar models. That extra 211 CV comes from the motor located on the rear axle, which transmits its power to that axle independently of the combustion engine.

To get the most out of the hybrid powertrain, the model offers four driving modes, Superhybrid, Sport, Corsa and E-Power. The fully electric mode provides a 100% electric range of 20 kilometres, after which the powerful V8 engine kicks in to continue the journey. Working together with the other driving modes, the electric motor supplies assistance when the car needs more power or when the driver wants more efficient driving.

The total weight of the car is 1,400 kg, although the most representative figures in this respect are the chassis, which adds only 150 kg to the total, an electric motor weighing just 25 kg, and a body weighing a similarly light 25 kg. With this and the combination of motors, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is set at 2.7 seconds, and it reaches 200 km/h in 7.2 seconds. Top speed is limited to a considerable 355 km/h.

The brand Puritalia does not want its model saturating roads around the world, so it will build only 150 units at a unit price of 465,000 euros before taxes. Would you like to have one of these Puritalia Berlinetta in your garage?
