Red Bull heir arrested for killing a police officer with his Ferrari FF

A sports car in the wrong hands can be a deadly weapon. Once again we witness the tragedy of reckless driving.

Vorayuth Yoovidhya, grandson of Chaleo Yoovidhya and Red Bull heir, was arrested earlier this week in connection with an accident in which a police officer was killed. Yoovidhya is alleged to have struck Sergeant Major Wichean Glanprasert with his Ferrari FF, knocking the unfortunate officer to the ground and causing multiple injuries that led to his death.

Yoovidhya was arrested at his home in Bangkok after a police patrol followed a trail of petrol from the scene of the accident to Yoovidhya’s residence.

Once again, the cause of the accident was reckless driving. Yoovidhya was reportedly travelling at a speed close to 200 km/h, and investigators are looking into whether the 27-year-old was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, although Yoovidhya’s lawyer has claimed that his client drank after the accident had taken place.

If found guilty, Yoovidhya faces a 10-year prison sentence for reckless driving causing death, and will therefore be unable to enjoy the 5 billion dollars he inherited from his grandfather, Chaleo Yoovidhya, founder of Red Bull.
