Renault Clio R.S. 2018, a limited series with the spirit of Formula 1

Renault Sport has surprised us with a new limited series of the Clio R.S., which captures the entire spirit of the brand’s Formula 1 team and brings it to the compact. The design already shows that we are looking at a more dynamic and aggressive car, seeking that connecting link with the more sporty image of Renault. The colour scheme used is, in fact, the same as the one used by the Formula 1 team, dominated by black with yellow details to show its belonging to a bolder and more powerful style.

The basis for this variant is the Clio R.S. 220 EDC Trophy, the most powerful in the family. The sobriety of the black bodywork is broken by the yellow that stands out on the front splitter, on the side mouldings and in the centre of the alloy wheels, creating a very interesting contrast. In addition, it has other elements that identify it as part of a special series designed so that enthusiasts of special editions can enjoy themselves to the full behind the wheel of this car.

A redesigned front bumper, the rear badge and the R.S. and Renault logos already offer a different and original look compared to other variants. On the roof you can also see the double diamond logo, as well as the text R.S. 18 on the door frame, so that whoever sits behind the wheel does not forget for a moment that they are driving a very special car.

This model inherits some of the characteristics of the Clio R.S 220 EDC on which it is based. Therefore, we find a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, delivering a power output of 220 CV and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. The chassis has lost some weight compared to other versions and is also slightly stiffer. The front suspension is also new and the steering has been adjusted to make it more comfortable to handle. The exhaust signed by Akaprovic improves the sound and makes it more appealing for those seeking a more sporty tuning.

Inside, we find a sporty design§h26§, featuring leather and Alcantara, as well as air vents that imitate a carbon fibre finish. The number of units in this limited series and the price it will have once on the market have not been announced, but it is expected to be somewhat higher than the 27,500 euros that the Clio R.S. 220 EDC Trophy costs.
