Renault Twingo: more news emerges about the small French city car
The new Renault Twingo will be built in Slovenia, will be ready in 2026, and we tell you what we know about the new incarnation of this urban classic.

We have been receiving data and information for some time about the new Renault Twingo, an urban model that aims to revive the iconic French model and bring it into this new era of the automotive industry. To do so, it will lose its combustion engine and receive an electric drivetrain, which will be more efficient and will allow it to move easily through city streets.
The Renault Twingo E-Tech has been presented as a prototype at the Paris Motor Show and holds no major surprises. In fact, it is a car very similar to the model we already know, which simply offers an electric drive system along with a necessary update.

In terms of size, it is a car 3.75 metres long, a size that appears to be retained in the production version. The platform on which this model will be based is the already known AmpR Small, which is also the basis for the Renault 5 and the Renault 4. What we do not yet know is the type of electric motor it will have and the power it will deliver.
The most logical option would be the one also used by the entry-level version of the Renault 5. This offers a power output of 95 CV, since it is a car designed exclusively for urban use. This power, or an even lower figure, could keep the price very contained, below the 20,000 euro threshold.
One of the possible ways to reduce the price of this model is to replace the NMC battery (nickel, cobalt and manganese) with one using LFP technology. These are not as efficient as the former, but they are cheaper and very practical for urban use. Range could be around 250 kilometres, which is more than enough for city driving.
The new Renault Twingo will be built in Slovenia, thanks to an agreement reached with the government of that country. The model will be ready for commercialisation in 2026. The Renault Twingo E-Tech will represent the brand’s alternative to similar models from other manufacturers.
