Rolls-Royce and British music legends team up to create special editions of the Wraith

Renowned British music scene artists have joined Rolls-Royce to create 9 special editions of the Wraith, works of art for collectors

Rolls-Royce has always been associated with the luxury and exclusivity of the highest spheres, so it may seem somewhat strange that the brand itself has decided to produce special editions that, in a way, tarnish (to put it one way) the exquisite aesthetics of English vehicles. But we have already seen on previous occasions how this has happened; an example is the Wraith Inspired by Fashion.

In this special edition, or rather these editions, the Wraith is also involved, but in this case the designers at Rolls-Royce have not worked with their counterparts from the catwalks, but with legends of the British music scene. And what happens when we combine a Rolls-Royce Wraith with a design by, for example, Roger Daltrey, singer of The Who? We get a collector’s piece that any lover of good music would want to have at home.

The guest artists for the first four editions of the Rolls-Royce Wraith “Inspired by British Music” are Roger Daltrey, leader of The Who, Sir Ray Davies of The Kinks, and Giles Martin, son of Sir George Martin, the producer known as “the fifth Beatle”. Each has left their mark on the Wraith, highlighting an icon related to the group in question and, in addition, part of the proceeds that Rolls-Royce earns from these cars will be donated to the charitable cause each of the artists above chooses.

Continuing with the designs in question, Roger Daltrey has created two different designs. The first is called The Who, and as you may guess, it is a design that recalls the band’s general legacy, so alongside the logo we find song titles and his signature. In the other design, called Tommy, the singer worked together with Mike McInnerney, who was the design lead on The Who’s Tommy album; here we even find lyrics from songs on the album engraved on the doors.

Sir Ray Davies has also engraved the lyrics of two songs from The Kinks’ album Arthur on the doors of the Rolls-Royce Wraith, along with other elements such as the band’s logo embroidered on the seats. Meanwhile, Giles Martin has paid tribute throughout the Rolls-Royce Wraith to all 30 number ones that his father, Sir George Martin, achieved as a producer.

But stay tuned, because there will be more, up to a total of 9 exclusive editions of the Rolls-Royce Wraith, including artists such as singer Dame Shirley Bassey, responsible for many hits including three songs for James Bond films, Francis Rossi, vocalist and guitarist of Status Quo, and Ronnie Wood, known for his career with The Rolling Stones and Faces.
