Ron Dennis: the Bugatti Veyron is rubbish

Ron Dennis lashed out at the Bugatti Veyron, calling the Italian supercar a complete piece of rubbish compared with “his” McLaren MP4-12C, according to an Arabic newspaper. Clearly Ron Dennis is doing a great deal of free advertising for the McLaren product at the expense of the Italian car, considering these statements were made to an Arabic outlet, one of the markets the British firm is going to exploit very well to sell the MP4-12C.

But it also happens that the Middle East is where the most Bugatti Veyrons have been sold. We shall see whether Veyron customers share Dennis’s opinion. For now, the Briton went on to describe the Veyron as a car that doesn’t do anything for him and that is also hideous.

Incidentally, he took the opportunity to remind us all of that famous race, staged by Top Gear, between a McLaren F1 and a Bugatti Veyron in which the Veyron was supposed to win. Dennis says they had to run the race about ten times to give the Veyron a chance, since the McLaren F1 always won the initial acceleration. At top speed, the Veyron still comes out on top with 404 km/h, against the F1’s 390 km/h.
