Saab: they were about to destroy the cars left at Trollhattan

An unconfirmed rumour from Autocar tells us that the vehicles still remaining at the Trollhattan plant will be destroyed.

Days ago we told you that the brand’s administration would try to end production of the models still left at the Swedish plant; but either it wasn’t profitable for them, or they couldn’t secure the funds to finance the manufacture of the last series of vehicles.

According to an unconfirmed rumour, preparations are reportedly underway for the destruction of the models we are referring to, among which are some 9-5s and some 9-4X built in Mexico that had been taken to Sweden. It is said that only one 9-5 will be saved from being turned into a metal cube and destined for the Saab museum, although even the museum has not been spared from bankruptcy and is about to be sold.

What an unpleasant ending for Saab. Bankrupt and unable to even sell a handful of vehicles still inside the facilities in Trollhattan. I wonder why they cannot be auctioned off to the highest bidder; perhaps there is some Swedish legal precedent we are not aware of, but I think that what one expects, in most cases like this, is for an auction to be opened with all those cars.
