What became of the Plymouth Belvedere buried in Tulsa?

The 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was buried in that famous time capsule in 1957 and unearthed in 2007 has left almost no trace, apart from a more recent video and a mysterious photo.

In June 2007, a news story had all of us who wondered about the fate of the Plymouth Belvedere buried in a “time capsule” in Tulsa, USA, sitting on the edge of our seats: would it be just as the original organisers had imagined back in 1957? Would the car be in good condition after 50 years underground? The tests showed that the Plymouth surfaced as a lump of rust mounted on four tyres rotted by time.

Once again we ask ourselves: what has become of the most famous Plymouth Belvedere in the world? The latest news I have managed to find goes back to 2010, three years after the car was dug up. In all that time the vehicle passed into the hands of a certain Dwight Foster, owner of a company that makes rust-removing products, with the promise of returning it to its rightful owners in the best possible condition, after using his “miraculous” products to try to eliminate the rust that had spread like a cancer over the poor car.

The reality is that, in the state the Belvedere was in, any restoration was impossible. In those conditions the metal is as fragile as a sheet of paper. Nevertheless, Foster applied his own methods to try to give the car back some of its original paint, which he has partly achieved according to the following video.

However, I then came across something strange: on the same website that shows the restoration process, there is the following photo:

No, it is not the same car. It cannot be the same car. It must be another one…
