The Jarama circuit has written many lines in the history books of motorsport in our country. The Madrid track has been the scene of many milestones in the industry and the world of cars. Alongside the circuit, Spain has also enjoyed the presence of SEAT, the only Spanish car manufacturer, and all the models that have grown in our market to become what it is today.

The anniversaries of several SEAT models are the excuse for the brand to be present at the Espíritu del Jarama 2016, an event that will take place at the circuit on 14, 15 and 16 October and will bring together many of the cars that have taken part at some point in this exhibition competition. The 50th anniversary of the first SEAT 850 will allow visitors to see, in the tent set up by SEAT, the four versions that were produced of this model.

The SEAT 850 was the brand’s first city car to offer Spanish drivers four body styles. It was available as a 2-door, 4-door, Coupé and Spider, which allowed buyers of that era to have a car suited to their tastes and needs without having to spend a very large amount. But this anniversary is not the only one that SEAT wants to celebrate with its fans in a space so well suited to it.

The first 20 years of the CUPRA range is another celebration, which will allow attendees to see an exhibition made up of three road units alongside their respective competition versions. Present will be the Ibiza Cupra 2.0 150 CV with the Ibiza Kit Car — which will also commemorate the first FIA 2 Litre World Rally Championship of 1996 — the Córdoba Cupra with the Córdoba WRC, and the current León Cupra 290 with the León Cup Racer for circuit racing.

Another of the most popular cars in SEAT’s history, the 600 Savio, will take part in the Concours of Elegance. This vehicle was designed by Italian Pietro Frua and bodied by the Italian coachbuilder Savio, which gives the car its name. It was registered in 1966 and was used to transport important visitors to the factory.

SEAT also wants to reward the most well-kept and original classic car of the brand that attends the event. This competition will be held with the registered cars, which must have been registered before 1986, on 14 and 15 October. The winner of each day will be announced at two in the afternoon, and the winner will receive a trophy certifying their victory and a guided tour of the Martorell factory, including the A-122 building, where SEAT’s classic collection is housed.
