SEAT León ST Cupra R, maximum exclusivity in a limited edition only for Spain

A few months ago SEAT announced the León ST Cupra Black Edition, an exclusive limited edition that was initially aimed at the United Kingdom but was ultimately decided to be extended to the Spanish market as well. Once again, starting the year with a bang, SEAT is back with a new limited edition of the León ST Cupra, which it has named “R”, and which will be aimed exclusively at its Spanish customers.

The new limited edition León ST Cupra R, as you may imagine from the name they have given it, focuses its improvements on greater sportiness thanks to its improved dynamic behavior, as well as various carbon fiber elements installed on its bodywork, which, in addition to improving its aerodynamic efficiency, also help to reduce the overall weight of the car.

The most notable aspects of this SEAT León ST Cupra R focus on improving its handling, making cornering faster and more efficient. To achieve this, SEAT’s engineers have provided a new setup for both axles, modifying the negative camber angle at the rear wheels by 2º, which results in a larger contact patch for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres fitted as standard. The Progressive Steering system has also been better calibrated, which, together with the braking system supplied by Brembo, ensures that the increase in sporty sensations is always kept under control.

The SEAT León ST Cupra R has also seen various exterior elements become carbon fiber, such as the front diffuser, the side skirts and, at the rear, the diffuser and the spoiler. There are also other elements that, although not part of the aerodynamic components, have also been made in carbon fiber to maintain a sporty look, such as the mirror housings, details on the sport seats and the door trims.

To give it that exclusive touch that sets the SEAT León ST Cupra R apart from the rest of the models, it comes with specific exclusive elements. The bodywork will be available in black, grey and white, which will be combined with the Copper colour on various small exterior details, such as the SEAT logos and the Cupra lettering or the frame of the front air intakes. The specific design alloy wheels are 19 inches and have been painted in a combination of black and Copper.

There are no mechanical improvements, so under the bonnet of the SEAT León ST Cupra R we find the 2.0 TSI petrol engine with 300 CV of power, paired with the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive 4Drive. It should be said that we will find a new exhaust system that will provide a different sensation.

As I mentioned, the SEAT León ST Cupra R will only be available on the Spanish market as a limited edition of just 300 units, priced at 54,606 euros, which includes a comprehensive standard equipment list and all the improvements mentioned above.
