M-Byte, the production electric car with the largest screen in the world

The screen installed in the Byton M-Byte measures 48 inches and, although it is spectacular, it needs another screen in order to be used properly

Byton is a Chinese company that has developed a fully electric car that will enter production in late 2019 and that wants to surprise Americans at CES. The thing is, this car goes beyond the battery and range, because what makes it special is what it hides in the cabin. The Byton M-Byte is going to become the production car with the largest interior screen in the world.

In front of the driver we are going to find a screen… of 48 inches!. This monstrous screen is positioned in front of the driver, in a position that, according to the brand, will not get in the way when driving, since its position allows you to look over it and not lose sight of the road.

But this screen, which is equivalent to about seven tablets, is not operated by tapping on it; instead it needs another two screens, of a more manageable size. One of them, the main screen, is located above the steering wheel, right above the airbag. Luckily, this screen is fixed and does not turn with the wheel. The second screen, 8 inches in size, sits between the driver and the front passenger, who can also control the entertainment system displayed on the main screen.

And these are not the only ones, since on the backs of the front seats there are two more screens so that rear occupants can enjoy the same experience as the front occupants. The Byton M-Byte was presented last year at CES in its concept model, and this year it will arrive at the same event in its production form, so we will be able to see the differences between the two.

The model will feature a level 3 autonomous driving system, which is expected to evolve in future generations, and 5G connectivity to stay fully connected. In addition, it is equipped with Amazon Alexa, so it will have a good voice recognition system and a more pleasant way of communicating with the driver and the rest of the occupants.

And now it is time to talk about its technical details. The Byton M-Byte will come in two versions. The first will be rear-wheel drive, with a 71 kWh battery pack that will provide a range of 400 kilometres. The all-wheel-drive version will have a 95 kWh battery, bringing the range up to 520 kilometres. Production will take place in China in late 2019, and the price in the United States will be around $45,000.
