Shelby F-150 Super Snake: limited and with over 750 CV, this pick-up will win your heart

Shelby is synonymous with radicalism, and today’s protagonist, the Shelby F-150 Super Snake, lives up to that term both in its styling and in the heart beneath its hood, which make it the most powerful street truck ever created by the cobra’s company.

Building on that, Shelby has chosen the name Super Snake, a designation we already know from the Shelby Super Snake Speedster we showed you a few months ago, with which it shares practically the same approach: a supercharged V8 as its powertrain and improved dynamics.

Very Shelby

In terms of styling, the new Shelby F-150 Super Snake features a new body kit created specifically for the model. At the front, it gets a new bumper with a lower splitter, a new hood with two ventilation grilles and, finally, a grille bearing the Shelby badge, which complete its rugged, radical look.

Along its side profile, Shelby has fitted more aerodynamic side skirts and enormous 22-inch wheels, along with oversized six-piston brakes to stop this pick-up with its outrageous power. In addition, for those who want a version more capable off the asphalt, Shelby offers Fox shock absorbers with remote reservoirs and variable firmness that increase ground clearance.

The rear is perhaps the most understated part of the whole package, since apart from a small spoiler that forms part of the hardtop covering the load bed, there are no further novelties. However, its wide tyres seen from behind and its two exhaust outlets signed by Borla Exhaust make it quite clear that this is not a conventional version of the Ford F-150.

Among the options catalogue, there are several choices, including the black colour seen in the photographs or the iconic white finish with blue stripes alongside the Shelby cobra logos around the bodywork.

A discreet yet special interior

Inside, Shelby has finished the cabin in black and dark grey leather bearing the Super Snake Sport designation, on the seats, floor mats and dashboard alike. Along with several carbon-fibre trim pieces, a plaque bearing each unit’s chassis number is included, as befits a limited series.

The best part

After going through the styling, comes the best part: its heart. Under the hood of this F-150 Super Snake sits a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged by a compressor, producing 775 CV which, combined with 4WD traction and its short bodywork, is capable of reaching 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in just 3.45 seconds.

Production of the new Shelby F-150 Super Snake will be limited to only 600 units -300 in long bodywork and another 300 in short bodywork- and prices for the most powerful 775 CV supercharged version start from $113,680 (97,398 euros).
