Simraceway: powered by rFactor
Simraceway is a driving simulator that offers a variety of tracks and cars, but at its core it is a mod of rFactor.

We like driving simulators for one simple reason: even though some of them, such as iRacing, already border on “professional” and you have to pay for them, they are far cheaper than getting into the costs of cars, engines, preparation, tyres and the occasional scare that comes with doing it on a real track with real cars. In any case, let’s start from the premise that not even the most perfect of free or paid simulators matches the experience of real driving.
Not long ago we showed you Project CARS, which unfortunately you have to pay for (though to be fair, not very much) in order to drive. Now we come to another new offer in the virtual world of racing, Simraceway, another simulator that can be downloaded for free and that gives you a single car to start experiencing it: the Mitsubishi Evolution X.
Once you get tired of the Evo X, you can download more cars, although this is where the credit card or the chequebook comes into play, since you’ll have to pay for each additional vehicle you add to the game. Apparently the scenarios are well executed, and the reactions and sensations of each car are too, according to what we have read about the game.
According to its creators, the idea behind Simraceway is to involve not only simulator enthusiasts, but also all the real people in the world of racing, instructors, drivers and even the brands themselves.
Now, having a look at what Simraceway is all about, we are surprised to find that it is a variant of the rFactor engine, so all the previous statements fall apart with great ease. Why pay for cars and tracks that are in fact free?
If you’re curious, you can download the game after a short registration process. I haven’t downloaded it, but watching the video below was enough.
