Skoda Scala S arrives, a limited edition courtesy of ABT
Skoda has just announced the arrival of the Skoda Scala S, a special edition limited to 500 units, developed with the participation of ABT.
Skoda has long been working hard on its model range, offering a line-up of vehicles with a value for money that is hard to beat. However, the Czech brand has not only focused on maintaining this goal, but also on offering sporty versions of its cars. For now there is no Skoda Scala RS as many expected, but ABT has decided to play with the Czech compact to create what is known as the Skoda Scala S, a spicier special edition limited to 500 units.
As is customary, the German tuner has focused on two areas: styling and mechanics. With this premise, we find not only a Skoda Scala that looks sportier, but also one that is sportier, achieving a combination that allows the Skoda compact to look like a pure and hard-core sports compact.
To develop the Skoda Scala S, ABT based it on the Skoda Scala Monte Carlo. In the first instance, the colour palette is reduced to three colours for this special edition: Velvet Red, Black Magic Pearl and Steel Grey. These shades are combined with 18-inch ER-C18 wheels finished in black, as well as the details that already adorn the Monte Carlo variant, such as the grille, the mirror housings and the rear diffuser trim.

The cabin has also been modified, now featuring sport front seats upholstered in black fabric, a multifunction steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and carbon fibre trim. But the true highlight of the Skoda Scala S lies in its mechanical section, where ABT has also made its mark.
The 500 units will be powered by the well-known 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI engine, which in standard form delivers 150 CV and 250 Nm of torque. However, after the German tuner worked on the Czech compact’s ECU, this engine now produces 190 CV and 290 Nm of torque, with power managed through a six-speed manual gearbox.

As mentioned, only 500 units of the Skoda Scala S will be produced, a vehicle that could easily pass for that long-awaited Scala RS. However, production is exclusively aimed at the German market, where it will have a starting price of 33,790 euros, allowing it to become a worthy rival to the Volkswagen Polo GTI and its peers.
