Smart forease+: an electric and fun car for the city
With the Smart fortwo as its starting point, the brand presents the Smart forease+ at the Geneva Motor Show, a charming prototype with bold design.
As a follow-up to the first Smart forease, presented in Paris in 2018, the brand shows the Geneva Motor Show the new Smart forease+. A concept car with a minimalist yet bold design, aimed at those looking for mobility solutions for large cities who want to stand out from the conventional.

One only needs to look at the images. This is a genuine convertible Roadster, where its fabric roof is one of the defining features. It is a very flat textile soft top, for which the designers of Smart have coined a name: #rooflove.
Urban convertible with character
The operation of the Smart forease+’s soft top is entirely mechanical, to the point that it cannot be considered a conventional soft top. It is made from a light and strong hard plastic structure, covered on the outside by a textile layer.

The roof is fully removable and fits into two recesses designed for this purpose at the rear of the vehicle, which showcases its Roadster character by having no side windows and an open rear.
Otherwise, the Smart forease+ features design elements that we could see in future models from the brand. Notable here are the technological look achieved by the aerodynamic wheels, the LED headlights with three active elements and the diamond-shaped rear lights that change depending on the angle from which they are viewed.

The bodywork is painted in an eye-catching matte metallic grey , which contrasts with the orange colour of the roof, also present on some inserts on the front and even on the wheels.
This colour combination continues inside the cabin, with the dashboard fully covered in orange Napa leather and the seats in black leather combined with microfibre. Worth highlighting is the design of the steering wheel, with its cut-away rim at the top.
The starting point for this prototype is the Smart EQ fortwo cabrio with electric drive. Smart has announced that it will progressively reduce its range of combustion-engine versions, until reaching a fully electric lineup before 2020. You can read our road test of the electric smart fortwo, in which we already argued why it is one of the definitive city cars.
