Kamiq Skoda Geneva Motor Show SUV
Skoda Kamiq, the new city SUV arrives with five engine options
The new Skoda Kamiq will be officially presented at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and aims to revolutionise the market just as its siblings, the Kodiaq and Karoq, did.

The new Skoda Kamiq joins the family of Skoda SUVs and will be officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2019. Kamiq means “something that fits perfectly” in the language of the Inuit people. It is based on the modular transverse platform, better known as MQB, and has a length of 4,241 mm, sharing its size with its cousin, the SEAT Arona.
In terms of design, the Skoda Kamiq is characterised by its front end, specifically the radiator grille and the lines that mark the bonnet. It also features a front spoiler that adds a touch of sportiness and gives off an off-road flavour. At the rear, the distribution of the lights, already a hallmark of the brand, stands out in the shape of a “C”.

Among the new features of the Skoda Kamiq, the incorporation of LED headlights with separate daytime running lights is worth highlighting, which, according to the brand, “look like four precious stones placed just above the headlights”.
What are the interiors of the Skoda Kamiq like?
The interior is dominated by a standalone 9.2-inch screen installed in the driver’s line of sight. It is also worth mentioning the new instrument panel, whose design matches the exterior lines of the new city SUV.

It is a spacious vehicle and offers a wide range of options that add extra comfort, similar to that found in higher segments. This includes heated steering wheel, windscreen and seats.
What engine should you choose for the Skoda Kamiq?
The Skoda Kamiq 2019 is offered with five different engines. It is important to note that all the engine options are turbocharged direct-injection units. They also include brake energy recuperation, a Start/Stop system, and comply with Euro 6d-TEMP emissions regulations, the most demanding to date.

1.0 TSI with 95 CV
The engine fitted to the entry-level version is a 1.0 TSI with 95 CV, capable of delivering 175 Nm of torque. It is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.
1.0 TSI with 115 CV

The second of the engine options for the Skoda Kamiq is the 1.0 TSI with 115 CV, with a six-speed manual gearbox but, optionally, it can be ordered with a seven-speed DSG transmission. Its torque reaches 200 Nm.
1.5 TSI with 150 CV
The third version features a four-cylinder 1.5 TSI with 150 CV and 250 Nm. This engine incorporates Active Cylinder Management technology, which automatically shuts down two of the four cylinders to save fuel. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG.
1.6 TDI with 115 CV

The brand also offers the new Kamiq with a four-cylinder 1.6 TDI with 115 CV and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is equipped with an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection and a particulate filter. The standard gearbox is a six-speed manual, but a seven-speed DSG is available as an option.
1.0 G-TEC
The fifth version is one of the most efficient and is designed to run on CNG, natural gas. It delivers 90 CV and reaches its peak torque of 160 Nm. It will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Bernhard Maier, CEO of Skoda, has commented that the Skoda Kamiq will attract new customers. “It combines typical SUV characteristics, such as the elevated seating position and good visibility, with agile handling, an emotive design and a high level of safety.”
