Specialized surprises with its new Creo 2 electric gravel bike

Gravel enthusiasts now have a new Specialized electric bike that lets them enjoy riding both on tarmac and off it

Specialized is one of the most recognised brands in the cycling world, both for its electric bikes and its pedal bikes. Its models in the mid-to-high range have always been known for the quality of their components and for their outstanding performance.

Living up to the reputation the brand has built, Specialized has just unveiled the new Creo 2: an electric gravel bike that will not leave any gravel enthusiast indifferent.

With the new Creo 2, the engineers and designers at the American company have aimed to deliver an optimal level of lightness and performance, along with a very natural feel when pedalling. To achieve this goal, one of the secrets of the new Creo 2 is its electric motor, the Specialized SL 1.2, designed and developed by the manufacturer itself without relying on third parties.

The smoothness of its pedalling will make you forget that it is an electric bike

Specialized claims that the SL 1.2 is one of the most efficient electric bike motors on the market, capable of delivering up to 320 W of power with 50 Nm of torque. The manufacturer also highlights that its quiet operation helps blur the line between an electric bike and a pedal bike.

As for its battery, Specialized has once again sought to strike a balance between the battery’s weight and the range it offers, ultimately opting for a 320 Wh unit with which it is possible to cover just over 120 kilometres per charge, extendable up to 190 km with an optional battery that adds another 160 Wh.

As a gravel bike, suspension is also important. In this case Specialized has chosen to integrate its Future Shock 3 system into the steerer tube, which with a travel of up to 20 mm is capable of reducing impacts by up to 53 per cent, according to the manufacturer.

As you can imagine, enjoying a bike like this will not be within everyone’s reach. Specialized will soon sell the Creo 2 in Spain from 6,000 euros, also offering an S-Works version for the most demanding riders that goes up to 13,000 euros.
