Spy photos: The Audi R8 V10 2013 is already ready
Today should be declared the international day of spy photos. Summer is approaching and manufacturers are not hesitating to strip much of the camouflage from their prototypes. A few hours ago my colleague Rubén brought you the latest images and data on the Porsche GT3; now it’s my turn to tell you about another pre-production model that has not taken the necessary precautions. The Audi R8 V10 2013 is closer than ever.
These are the spy images of the restyling of the Audi R8 that we expect to see at the end of this year. To notice the restyling on the front of the German supercar you’ll have to look closely. Some of those barely noticeable changes are the new LED-type headlights and a grille with slight modifications. At the rear, it’s the round exhaust pipes, similar to those of the R8 GT, that take centre stage.
This is a renewed model that will keep the modern Audi R8 in production until 2015. An aluminium chassis, some body panels in carbon fibre, a naturally aspirated V10 engine and only an automatic gearbox will be the main features of this model.
This last fact is quite tragic for the purist drivers. The absence of a clutch pedal and a gear selector lever is something that happens more and more often. Automatics are taking over, and this model was not going to be the exception. The new transmission will be dual-clutch and will have seven ratios.
We are sure that the next-generation coupé will be impressive, but for now it’s time to enjoy this one while we have it. Take a look at the high-resolution image gallery below.
