Spyker will begin distributing its cars in China in 2011

The Dutch manufacturer reported that it will distribute its luxury sports cars in China through its commercial partner China Automobile Trading Co (CATC). Let us recall that the two companies signed a partnership agreement on April 25 in Beijing.

Therefore, CATC will be the sole distributor of Spyker’s sports cars, SUVs and pickup trucks in the Asian country, which now holds the top spot in car sales. According to the network’s data, this new alliance is made up of a 51 percent Chinese stake and a 49% Dutch stake; a convenient deal for Spyker, as it will allow the company to understand the needs of the market.

It is clear that any company wishing to introduce its cars to the Chinese market must have a solid strategy, because otherwise it would face serious problems, which is why the moves made by the Dutch manufacturer over the past few months attract attention.

When Spyker acquired Saab in February, we believed the Swedish brand would reposition itself in the Old Continent; however, Spyker’s expansionist news promises a bright future.

In any case, one must wait until Shanghai GM (a joint venture between GM and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp) stops importing Saab cars. According to its contract, this operation should cease at the end of this year; until then the new company will have the opportunity to study all the options in order to make the best decision at the right time.
