Stellantis unveils the STLA Large platform, which will underpin 8 models by 2026

Stellantis N.V. has unveiled one of its latest technological gems, the STLA Large platform, a marvel of flexibility and performance that promises to change the game in the world of battery electric vehicles (BEV). This revolutionary platform is the backbone of a future fleet of vehicles that combines energy, efficiency and performance, and it will be present in all of Stellantis’ future models from the Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge brands.

The STLA Large is presented as the most flexible native BEV platform on the market, and it’s no wonder. With an energy capacity of 85 kWh and 118 kWh, this platform charges with surprising efficiency, at a rate of 4.5 kWh per minute. But that’s not all: being electric, it delivers one of the best torque outputs on the market, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately 2 seconds.

But what truly sets the STLA Large apart is its versatility. Available in 400- and 800-volt BEV architectures, this platform is like a blank canvas for the industry, serving as the foundation for a wide range of vehicles, from passenger cars to SUVs in the D and E segments. And this is not an empty promise: Dodge and Jeep® will lead the charge with eight launches between 2024 and 2026, followed by Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Maserati.

The STLA Large will be the fourth to arrive

With four global BEV platforms, Stellantis is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and longevity. The STLA Large joins the ranks of the Small, Medium and Frame platforms, designed to extend the life cycle through the magic of interchangeability. And to further enhance this vision, the platform is compatible with the latest electric vehicle technologies and Stellantis’ software-defined features: STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit and STLA AutoDrive.

But what exactly makes the STLA Large truly unique? Its flexibility. This platform is an engineering feat that enables unlimited diversity, allowing dimensions to be adjusted for key parameters such as wheelbase, overall length and ground clearance across vehicles, from passenger cars to SUVs, all powered by electric energy with instant torque response and zero emissions. This doesn’t just affect aesthetics; it also improves handling and vehicle comfort. With a platform that uses advanced high-strength materials and is optimized for weight and rigidity, first-class performance is ensured across all vehicle types.

The STLA Large is not only focused on the present but also on the future. In addition to being compatible with hybrid and internal combustion propulsion systems, it is designed to easily accommodate future energy storage technologies once they are ready for production.
