The countdown is on to one of the world’s biggest television events. The Super Bowl draws millions of viewers from the United States and around the world to watch the final of the American football league, a sport that is hard to fully grasp, but undeniably spectacular. And during the broadcast of the game between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, viewers will see the most expensive commercials in the world, both in terms of airtime rates and production budgets. Proof of this is already available online, with the ads released ahead of their television debut,

Major brands are betting on big names, media stars who bring us the best of the world of film, music… and cars. We’re going to present the ad that brings together three legendary names in automotive and music to showcase the impressive Kia Stinger GT, which has just gone on sale and aims to conquer roads in the United States and Europe. The ad also stars Steven Tyler, frontman of Aerosmith, and the legendary Emerson Fittipaldi.

The scene recreates a race between the singer and the driver, although Steven Tyler shows that his rebellious spirit suits the Stinger’s character, and he hits reverse, turning back the clock to the 1970s, when he was mobbed by thousands of fans, leaving Fittipaldi at the starting line. And although the ad’s appeal seems to lie in the recreation of a very young Steven Tyler (and I’ve already mentioned that these are the most expensive ads in the world), what matters is the car, its features and equipment.

In the spot we can see the reverse guidance system that lets the singer follow the path ahead on the dashboard screen and check the car’s power. Sure, turning back time probably isn’t a standard feature on the model, but the 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 engine does deliver 365 CV and a maximum torque of 510 Nm. This lets it reach 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Not bad for a driver who has become synonymous with speed and control behind the wheel, right?
