Subaru is going all out, now launching an even more radical version of the Impreza WRX
The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type RA will be unveiled on June 8, the same day the newly announced BRZ STI will be revealed.

Subaru is really pushing hard. The Japanese brand revealed the arrival of the BRZ STI a few days ago – the most radical version of the sports coupé to date – but that won’t be the end of it. The Impreza WRX is also going to receive a new special edition that will be unveiled on June 8. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type RA will be a production model that will feature, among other things, an ultra-light carbon fibre roof.
We don’t yet know many details about the Subaru WRX STI Type RA, although everything suggests the sports car will include several upgrades such as the following: a carbon fibre rear spoiler, 19-inch wheels made by the popular brand BBS and finished in the typical gold colour of rally models, along with a series of adjustments that will enhance the visual sportiness of the cabin interior, including Recaro sports seats.

As it is the most sporty model in the Impreza range, it would not be surprising if the WRX STI Type RA features sport suspension from the brand Bilstein. Meanwhile, the 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine, which produces 300 CV of power in the standard model, will surely undergo a series of improvements that will boost its performance, as will its six-speed manual gearbox.
Subaru recently published a video showing the WRX STI Type RA NBR Special prototype running on the Nürburgring circuit. Although this is not a model that will go on sale, the Japanese brand intends to set a new record with this car: that of four-door saloons. The first attempt was made on May 19, but on that occasion the weather did not cooperate at all. Subaru will try again at the end of summer, and we’ll see what happens.
