Subaru tS arrives in Japan with a limited edition of 300 units

We saw it as a concept a few months ago, but now it has become a reality thanks to a special edition of just 300 units. And be warned, because these few hundred Subaru tS, the brand’s new SUV, will only be sold in Japan, so we will hardly be able to see it outside that country.

The model the brand has presented has very few differences from the one it showed in September. Basically, it is a testbed for the technology that has made this car the flagship of the advances achieved by the Japanese brand in several areas.

Aesthetically, it is easily identifiable thanks to its black grille, edged with a red line and with the company logo perfectly visible on the front. At the rear it has a black spoiler, also very recognizable, and a red line on the rear bumper.

The front is completed by fog lights with silver bezels and black exterior mirrors, which also cover the window trim and the central pillar. Inside, a distinctive style has also been pursued to mark the differences, starting with the steering wheel trimmed in leather with red stitching and the STI division logo.

The speedometer goes up to 260 km/h and has a fully sporty look, while a multifunction screen controls the vehicle’s infotainment system. The design style of the STI division is also present in the gear lever and in areas such as the doors, which feature the logo.

In addition, the exterior is reinforced by 19-inch wheels, with 17-inch ventilated disc brakes, STI-assisted suspension lowered by 15 mm and a recalibrated VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) system. Under the bonnet is the most powerful version of the 2.0-litre turbo engine available in Japan, capable of producing 276 CV and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. A Lineatronic CVT automatic gearbox sends the power to all four wheels. Each of these units is priced at 36,800 euros, and reservations can only be made until 5 April 2015.
