Tesla Cybertruck: a 3,000 kg monster that accelerates like a supercar

One of the versions of the Cybertruck from Tesla will feature what the company calls “Beast Mode,” which will deliver truly beastly acceleration

Elon Musk was the latest guest on the popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, which you can listen to on Spotify and which is also largely available on X. Over the nearly 3 hours the episode lasted, Rogan and Musk covered a wide range of topics, but here we are going to focus on the new information the head of Tesla revealed about the Cybertruck.

The first half hour was devoted exclusively to the new electric pickup from the American manufacturer. This is not surprising, since Joe Rogan himself confirmed that when he went to pick up Musk, Musk arrived in one of the test units the company currently has. Musk highlighted the challenge that producing the Cybertruck represents for Tesla due to its complexity, but despite this, he dared to assert that they will be able to put at least 200,000 units per year on the market, if not more.

The first data point Musk revealed about the Cybertruck that we did not yet know is its weight. We could already imagine that a monster of these dimensions would tip the scales, and now the head of Tesla has confirmed it. According to him, its weight will depend on the configuration chosen, but it will fall between 6,000 and 7,000 pounds. That is, hovering around 3,000 kg, slightly above or below.

We’re eager to see how the Cybertruck performs in the quarter mile

But the most surprising thing of all was the revelation Musk made regarding its acceleration. Rogan mentioned that he finds it crazy that a behemoth like this, weighing around 3,000 kg, can reach 100 km/h in about 3.5 seconds, to which Musk responded with an answer nobody expected.

The head of Tesla explained that one of the versions of the Cybertruck—we assume it will be the Performance—will feature what is called Beast Mode or, in Spanish, Modo Bestia. In this mode, the new electric pickup from the American manufacturer will be able to reach 60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds, Musk assured. Or, to put it another way so we can understand it better, it will reach 100 km/h from a standstill in about 3 seconds.

Musk did not want to reveal more information, but he did recall that the official presentation event for the Cybertruck at Giga Texas will be this coming November 30. At this event, the complete specification sheet for this electric pickup will be unveiled, and any questions raised by attendees will be answered.
