Model Y Tesla Electric Cars SUV
Tesla is already producing the 2025 Model Y at its four plants spread around the world
This coming March is when the 2025 Model Y is expected to start reaching streets and roads across half the world, with the aim of once again becoming a true bestseller.
It was on January 10 when Tesla surprised everyone by unveiling the redesigned 2025 Model Y on the company’s website for several Asian countries, including China, opening orders that very same day. From that precise moment, many began to wonder when we would be lucky enough to see the launch of this electric SUV in other markets such as Europe or North America. And as it turned out, we did not have to wait long.
Just two weeks later, the 2025 Model Y appeared on the Tesla website for several European countries, after it was announced that production had already started at the Berlin Gigafactory. The same happened in North America.

Now, less than a month after we were first able to learn about all the changes and improvements that Tesla had introduced to its best-selling electric SUV, the company has announced that production is already underway at its four vehicle manufacturing plants spread across the world. These are the Giga Shanghai in China, the one in Grünheide near Berlin in Germany, the one in Austin, Texas, and the Fremont production plant in California.
Tesla has not specified the exact start date of production at each of these four plants, but in publications made on January 31 it confirmed that production was already underway at all four. The Grünheide plant in Germany confirmed on January 14 that production of the 2025 Model Y had started, so we can assume that the first units of this electric SUV began rolling off the assembly line at the German plant that same day.

The production volume of the redesigned 2025 Model Y will not be the same at each of Tesla’s four plants
Giga Shanghai remains Tesla’s plant with the greatest production capacity for this electric model. The Chinese plant can currently produce up to 950,000 units a year of the Model 3 and Model Y combined. Next in production capacity is the Fremont plant, which can produce 100,000 Model S/X units a year and a little over 550,000 Model 3/Y units each year. Giga Berlin, on the other hand, is capable of supplying up to 375,000 Model Y units to meet demand in the European market. Meanwhile, Giga Texas can produce up to 250,000 Model Y units, in addition to 125,000 Cybertrucks.
Finally, let us recall that both in the European market and in others, the first deliveries of the 2025 Model Y are scheduled to take place from next March onward.
