Model 3 Tesla Sedans Electric Cars
Tesla will begin deliveries of the Model 3 at the end of this July
Elon Musk has announced the start of the first deliveries of the highly anticipated Model 3, the compact from Tesla for which there are already more than 400,000 firm orders.

Deliveries to customers of the first units of the Tesla Model 3, the highly anticipated full electric mid-size saloon from the North American brand, will begin on 28 July for buyers who previously committed to purchasing one of this model. Tesla already has more than 400,000 firm orders for this model, whose price was set two years ago at 35,000 dollars (about 30,700 euros).
According to Musk’s statements, some 20,000 units of the Model 3 will come off the production line at the Tesla factory in Fremont (California, USA) every month starting next December, a production volume that analysts view with skepticism given the brand’s track record of slowly ramping up its production rates.

In any case, if Musk’s forecast comes true, the brand will need at least 20 months to fulfil the deliveries contracted in its current order book, a period that could be shortened if, as the Tesla chief executive anticipated, the Fremont factory is able to deliver 10,000 units per week at some point in the next 2018. At Fremont, Tesla also produces its Model S saloon and its crossover, the Model X.
As a curiosity, one of the first units to leave the assembly line is already in the hands of Musk himself, and not precisely because of any preferential right, but because one of the members of the Tesla board of directors, Ike Ehrenpreis, decided to transfer his purchase right to Musk as a gift for his 46th birthday. By tradition, Tesla always hands over the first car off the production line to the first customer who pays the full price of the vehicle once it goes on sale.

During the barely four days of sales of the model in July, Tesla plans to deliver 30 units. That figure will rise to 100 in August and should reach 1,500 in September, entering from there a full-performance phase that must reach a production rate of 20,000 units per month next December.
The electric vehicle brand hopes to achieve annual production of 500,000 units from 2018, an ambitious goal considering that, to date, its production pace at the Fremont factory barely reaches 100,000 units per year if we look at the output achieved during the first half of this year 2017.

All these figures are especially relevant given the scarce information the manufacturer has offered about its new model since unveiling it in 2016. According to the manufacturer’s website, “The Model 3 offers the range, performance, safety and space needed for the world we live in, characteristic of a premium sedan only available from Tesla. The Model 3 is our most affordable model to date. Its range is 345 km per charge and its starting price of 35,000 dollars (approximately 30,700 euros), excluding subsidies or incentives. The Model 3 is designed to the most demanding safety standards in each of the categories”.
According to the Tesla website, the Model 3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds, and can carry five adults. The Model 3 is smaller, simpler and will come with fewer options than the Model S, but it still offers a comfortable driving feel. To ensure maximum safety, the Model 3 will also include, in its full version, the autonomous driving hardware that Tesla offers on the Model S, and its software may likewise be completed through the successive updates the brand develops for it.
