Tesla will double its charging points and launch V3 Superchargers in 2019
Tesla plans to reach 23,000 charging stations worldwide by the end of 2019. The goal is to serve 95% to 100% of the market where it operates.
The short- to medium-term project of Tesla is to double its network of charging stations by 2019. Elon Musk, CEO of the car company, confirmed this information via Twitter. According to the chief executive of Tesla, this will allow serving the entirety of the geographic areas (between 95% and 100%) where the vehicle brand operates. In addition, Musk confirmed that the new-generation V3 Superchargers will be installed early next year.

Tesla aims to reach 23,000 charging points
The ambition of Tesla to expand its charging point network remains intact over time. The Californian company set itself the goal of reaching 10,000 Superchargers by the end of 2017. However, Tesla fell far short of the figure set, with only a few thousand of its chargers in place.

Despite this, Tesla’s forecasts for 2018 were of the same magnitude or even higher. Elon Musk’s brand set the target of 18,000 charging points worldwide. Although the year has not yet ended, the current data do not suggest that Tesla will meet its target: Tesla has 11,400 Superchargers spread across 1,390 charging stations.
Now, Elon Musk confirms that his company will double its charging network and reach 23,000 charging points by the end of 2019. According to Musk, this will allow it to serve between 95% and 100% of the population where Tesla currently operates.
V3 Superchargers: greater charging in less time
The short-term goal is to begin the installation of the new-generation Superchargers V3. The initial plan of Tesla was to start this installation last summer, but the deadline was pushed back to the end of 2018. After its arrival was delayed by several months, Elon Musk confirmed that this process will begin early in 2019.

This represented a need for the Californian manufacturer heading into 2019. The arrival of the Tesla Model 3 in Europe and the location of the new V3 Superchargers will provide complete service to users who drive this model in the coming months.
Likewise, the installation of these brand-new charging points will reduce parking time. The new Superchargers increase the power of the current ones, allowing vehicles to charge faster.
