Tesla's Cybertruck boasts the largest windshield in the world at 3 square meters
Tesla has decided to break another record with the new Cybertruck, but this time it had to dethrone its sibling, which held the top spot with 2.87 square meters

The new Tesla Cybertruck continues to surprise us, and once again it has left its mark on history by unveiling a windshield of epic proportions, dethroning its sibling, the Tesla Model X, from the number one spot. This windshield has a length of 1.80 meters and a width of 1.75 meters at its widest point. This glass giant has achieved something no one had done before: fitting a windshield with a surface area of nearly 3 square meters, guaranteeing an incredible panoramic view. Before this milestone, we had already seen how Tesla equipped this new Cybertruck with a kind of electromagnetic “cover”, and now they have broken this record. What will be next?
Setting aside its incredible and gigantic dimensions, the comparison between the windshields of the Tesla Cybertruck and the Model X reveals notable differences. While the Model X held the title of owner of the largest windshield in the world, with its spectacular “Big Sky” panoramic roof of 2.87 square meters, the Cybertruck has surpassed all expectations with its imposing design.

As for the shape, it is clear that both vehicles stand out distinctly. The Model X boasts elegant curves that extend up toward the roof, offering a driving experience that Elon Musk has compared to sitting in a helicopter cabin. The Cybertruck, on the other hand, favors straighter, more forceful lines, reflecting its rugged and futuristic nature.
How is the windshield replaced?
The construction of these windshields also marks a significant divergence. While the one for the Model X is manufactured by specialist AGP, using proprietary technology that guarantees the forming of glass elements of up to four square meters, the Cybertruck’s required a different approach. Tesla has developed two patents for its manufacture, notably an innovative technique that applies localized heat to bend the glass and a three-layer structure that ensures strength and flexibility.

Now the question arises: how is the replacement of these glass giants carried out? Since July 2023, Carglass® Spain has taken on the challenge of repairing and replacing windshields on Tesla cars, including recalibration of ADAS systems. With twenty centers spread across the entire Iberian Peninsula, the company has demonstrated its ability to handle this task efficiently, with a team of trained technicians and Tesla’s exclusive diagnostic software.

Furthermore, thanks to the innovative 1TEK® tool developed by Belron® Technical, the process of handling and installing windshields has been considerably simplified. While the Model 3, S and Y can be handled by a single technician, the imposing size of the Model X windshield requires two experts working together, following a strict established protocol.
