KIA Sorento Geneva Motor Show SUV
The 2021 KIA Sorento will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show
The new KIA Sorento will be officially unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which takes place in March.

The new KIA Sorento 2021 will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, which takes place next March.
The vehicle will be underpinned by the next-generation mid-size SUV platform of the South Korean carmaker, which should ensure that the new Sorento “raises the bar in its segment for practicality, offering space on a par with much larger vehicles,” as the company states in a press release.

In addition to confirming the presentation of the KIA Sorento in Geneva, a couple of teaser images of the new SUV have been released. Unfortunately for the company, but fortunately for us, spy photographers recently stripped the Sorento of any camouflage during a photo shoot in California, so its exterior design has already been seen in full.
It would be an understatement to say that the new 2021 KIA Sorento looks radically different from the outgoing model. The exterior design barely shares any lineage with the current Sorento, and we’re not complaining.

Among the most notable changes at the front is the manufacturer’s latest tiger-nose grille and a set of slim headlights with LED daytime running lights. The front bumper is also particularly eye-catching and includes many angular lines.
At the rear, the radical redesign continues with a set of split taillights and a avant-garde tailgate dominated by sharp lines and abrupt edges. It looks very practical and is a long way from the soft, curvy design of the outgoing model.
Recently leaked images of the SUV’s interior have revealed a large infotainment screen mounted above the instrument cluster, a group of digital gauges and a completely new centre console with a rotary shifter. Everything looks pretty good, to be honest.

As far as powertrains are concerned, a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid variants of the new-generation Korean SUV will be offered. These could include at least one model with the same 2.5-litre turbocharged engine already fitted to the KIA Optima, delivering around 300 CV and 422 Nm of maximum torque.
The new KIA Sorento is internally coded as MQ4 and, according to some sources, in addition to the engine we have mentioned, the new generation will feature up to six different powertrains, depending on the market.
Petrol-powered models will be driven by a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre unit in entry-level versions, while 2.0 and 2.5-litre turbocharged engines will equip the more expensive models. The report goes on to specify that there will also be 2.0 and 2.2-litre turbodiesel engines.

KIA has already announced plans to electrify the next Sorento with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. A sunroof is believed to be available, in line with the one fitted to the Sonata Hybrid. In the case of the saloon, Hyundai says that six hours of daily charging will translate into 1,300 kilometres of additional annual range.
