The Alpine A120 is spotted in Paris ahead of its Geneva unveiling

New images of the French sports car in some of the city’s most iconic locations. The definitive version of the Alpine A120 will make its debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

The highly anticipated Alpine A120 will debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Before being officially shown to the world, the French brand has decided to take the sports car for a spin through the streets of Paris. The French model still keeps many secrets, although it is expected to offer an engine producing up to 300 CV and a weight of approximately 1,000 kg.

The heavily camouflaged Alpine A120 prototypes drove through the Parisian streets, passing close to some of the city’s most iconic monuments, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

Although the development of this model has been known for quite some time, the brand has not revealed many details about its performance. The vehicle is expected to feature a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a power output of between 250 and 300 CV. Everything points to this powertrain being derived from the 1.6-litre unit of the Renault Clio RS, which would put the new sports car’s 0 to 100 km/h acceleration at around 4.5 seconds. In addition, the weight of this model could be as low as 1,000 kilograms, which could give it a very favourable power-to-weight ratio. The aerodynamics of the Alpine A120 will benefit from the use of a completely flat underbody and a diffuser specially designed to increase downforce and the stability of the vehicle.

Production of the Alpine A120 will initially begin with the “Premiere Edition” version, of which only 1,995 units will be built. Its price will be between €55,000 and €60,000. However, Alpine is expected to offer new variants of this sports car in the future.

The successor to the iconic Alpine A110, which shone so brightly in the 1980s, will be officially unveiled next March at the Geneva Motor Show; it is then that we expect most of the questions surrounding this model to be answered.
