Aston Martin Vantage Convertibles Supercars
The Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is revealed for the first time
Aston Martin is in the final development phase of a new convertible, which shows us for the first time the Vantage Roadster, arriving in spring

It was a secret already known that Aston Martin was working to offer a new convertible model soon, a model that will be based specifically on the Vantage, which will join the brand’s lineup next year if no setbacks occur. Although there is still some time before this happens, the brand wants us to get to know it, and to that end has revealed it in its first official images.
For now the information is very scarce, which is logical at this stage, so we have to stick solely to the images that Aston Martin has unveiled of the future Vantage Roadster. Externally the changes are more than visible, which is obvious when we talk about a convertible version compared with the coupé, and we will see them most clearly from the side profile, such as the roofline, which is modified although it will surely still achieve an excellent aerodynamic coefficient, as expected of a vehicle of its characteristics.

Aston Martin has discarded fitting a rigid retractable roof, opting instead for a soft canvas top which will likely allow it to be fitted in different colours depending on the body colour chosen. The upper part of the rear is also modified, which is also logical to create the space needed to store and collect the canvas when we drive with the roof down. Precisely for this reason the Vantage Roadster is expected to weigh slightly more, partly due to the structure and mechanism needed for automatic opening and also due to the reinforcements required in the chassis.
That is why, when we have the official figures, you will see that there will be changes in the Roadster version compared with the Coupé version. It should be remembered that no changes are expected in the mechanical area, so in the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster we will still have the original Mercedes-AMG V8 engine with 4,000 cc twin-turbo and a power output of 510 CV together with a torque of 685 Nm, which allows it to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, the latter figure being slightly higher in the Roadster version, although it will still be more than sufficient to provide unique sensations.

Where there will also be no changes in the Vantage Roadster is in the rest of its styling, and if we set aside the upper part we will see that the front, the sides and the characteristic design of its rear will remain the same as in the Coupé version. Likewise, its two-seat layout and the design of its interior will also be retained.
According to the brand itself, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is expected to reach the roads in spring 2020 and, once the launch date approaches, we may perhaps find out whether the manufacturer’s plans also include the possibility of it receiving its respective AMR version, just as its Coupé sibling does.
