Audi Q8 Concepts Geneva Motor Show SUV
The Audi Q8 Sport Concept previews the future of the German brand's SUVs at Geneva
The Audi Q8 Sport Concept takes the concept shown in Detroit a step further, using a more powerful engine and performance that surpasses it

The brand with the four rings wants to preview the look of the new SUV, which arrives with an improved version of the one seen at the Detroit Show a few weeks ago. At the American show the Audi Q8 Concept was presented, but at the Swiss event this vehicle has been developed further, given a more sporty look and performance to offer a more intense version.
In this case, the Audi Q8 Sport Concept is the first in the brand to use a 3.0-litre twin-turbo FSI V6 petrol engine in conjunction with an electric compressor and a mild hybrid system that recovers energy from braking. This hybrid system delivers quite remarkable power, of 476 CV and a maximum torque of 700 Nm, which will offer considerable performance with really low consumption for what it achieves.

The mild hybrid system stores the energy recovered from braking in a lithium-ion battery located in the boot area, which can be used to supplement the push of the combustion engine, which provides 450 CV of the total and is complemented by the 27 CV from the electric motor. This energy is reserved for use during starting and stopping, such as in a traffic jam, when parking, or when maximum acceleration is wanted.
Consumption will benefit from this drive system, although Audi has not yet released the definitive figures for the model. A range of 1,200 km per tank is expected, which is quite considerable. As for the interior, it is equipped with several touchscreens that not only offer practical information but, thanks to the Head Up Display it uses, can display information directly on the windscreen, in a format identical to the real view the driver sees ahead.

This model will set the direction to be followed by the brand’s engineers and designers for future models, and both the drive system and part of the technological equipment are expected to be present in models such as the A8 and other cars that will appear on the market in the coming years.
