The Bentley Continental GT will use a 4-litre V8 from Audi

Bentley is also following the downsizing trend with its upcoming partnership with Audi to jointly develop a 4-litre V8 for the next generation of the Bentley Continental GT.
The new engine will feature direct injection and will debut at the end of next year under the bonnet of the recently revealed Continental GT. According to the venerable English maker, the V8 will emit 40% less CO2 than the current 6-litre, 12-cylinder engine.
And, gentlemen, this is truly extreme downsizing. Bentley is another brand in the sights of bodies defending low emissions and consumption, so it had to resort to a last-minute solution: sourcing engines from another manufacturer, and the chosen one could not have been better.
But that is not all. Bentley would add some form of supercharger to the V8 engine, according to Brian Gush, head of the brand’s chassis and engine department, with a configuration that is “unconventional” for the marque. Perhaps Bentley will change its philosophy from using turbos to using superchargers in the future, thanks to this V8.
