The BMW 316d goes on sale

This news was not going to take long to arrive. A few months ago we announced that the new BMW 316d would go on sale in the United Kingdom, and we knew it would not take long to reach the Spanish market. The crisis is biting, and manufacturers are looking for ways to reduce consumption and, at the same time, offer more affordable prices on their models.
The BMW 316d uses the same two-litre engine as its siblings, the 318d and 320d. The difference is that the electronics have been modified to deliver 116 CV of power. The best thing about this model is its consumption, since with this engine it offers an average consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km.
In addition, the price of this model is also lower than its siblings, since the BMW 316d starts at 29,400 euros, a figure that may be lower if some discount is applied (which is common). As an entry-level variant it is fine, but I am not sure whether its performance will live up to the brand, since the BMW 318d (which we have tested) was already rather short on power. That said, it is also true that you have to keep up with the competition, and Audi without going any further it has versions with 120 CV from its 2.0 TDI engine.
