The new BMW 5 Series stands out as one of the safest cars, setting records on up to three continents

The eighth generation of the BMW 5 Series Saloon has made its mark in Europe, earning the highest recognition of five stars from Euro NCAP. This achievement is attributed to its advanced standard driver assistance equipment, which impresses not only with its range of functions but also with its reliability of response.
In the area of passive safety, the BMW 5 Series stands out thanks to its innovative integrated safety concept, which incorporates high-strength support structures and precisely designed deformation paths. These features give the vehicle comprehensive impact protection, making it an undisputed leader in safety.

Across the Atlantic, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the BMW 5 Series Saloon the coveted TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating. Highlighting the frontal collision avoidance assistance system, this accolade recognises excellence in both daytime and nighttime tests. The integrated safety concept has proven to deliver comprehensive protection across various crash tests, establishing the BMW 5 Series as a benchmark for vehicle safety in the American market.

In Korea, attention to emergency braking systems for pedestrians and cyclists has been key to receiving the top score.
Powertrains and models
At the heart of this electric revolution are two standout models: the BMW 530e and the BMW 550e xDrive. The first, with a 2,000 cc four-cylinder engine and a 184 CV electric motor, delivers a combined output of 299 CV and 450 Nm of torque. Its 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 6.3 seconds showcases its vigour and efficiency.

On the other hand, the BMW 550e xDrive boasts a 3,000 cc six-cylinder engine and a 197 CV electric motor, generating a combined output of 489 CV and 700 Nm of torque. Its impressive 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 2 seconds less than the 530e makes it a true road athlete.

This gives the BMW 530e a range of 103 kilometres in fully electric mode, while the 550e xDrive reaches 90 kilometres.
