The BMW M8 Competition special for Canada is a tribute to the brand's past

There are manufacturers that prepare special versions of several of their models aimed at specific markets and sold only in that country. BMW is one of the brands that use this marketing method, and one of its latest launches has become a special edition intended exclusively for the Canadian market. The BMW M8 Competition has received two different versions for the Canadian market, which hide a tribute to the brand’s past.

These versions have been produced by Individual Manufaktor and only 10 units of each will be available. Both are identical, but they have two different paints on the bodywork. 10 units are painted in Frozen Black and the other 10 come in Fire Red. And it is precisely this color that links this current model with the brand’s recent past.

In 1990 BMW developed a prototype with the body of the BMW M8 of that era and finished it in that same color, Fire Red. For reasons that are not very well known, the brand kept this model hidden until 2010, and now it recovers the finish style to create this special model that only Canadian drivers will be able to enjoy who decide to have this special edition in their garage.

Color is not the only argument for giving personality to the 20 cars of this special edition. All of them have M Performance parts, made of carbon fiber. Thus, we can find the front kidney grille, the air intake edges, the side skirts, the rear diffuser and the front spoiler. Inside there is a single style, with Merino leather and Orange Sakhir finish and Black with Orange Sakhir piping.

Of course, each of the cars will have an inscription with the text BMW Individual Manufaktor, so that the driver is aware they are driving one of the units of this special edition. As for the engine, the customizer has not touched the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which delivers 617 CV and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. The price for these special models, which we will not see in Spain although we would like to, is 190,000 Canadian dollars.
